Barnet Medieval Festival is London’s only medieval festival of its kind and we are pleased to announce that it is returning in June 2019 after the success of last year’s event! It will be held on 8th & 9th June 2019 at the Barnet Elizabethans Rugby Football Club, Byng Road, Barnet, EN5 4NP. The Festival site will be open to the public from 10am to 5pm and entry is free for children, £2 for adults. There will be a full programme of displays and activities include: 10.30am Official opening with cannon fire 11.30am Re-enactment of the Second Battle of St Albans, 1461 12.00pm Medieval battle for children 1.30pm Soldiers’ drill for children 2.00pm Medieval firepower display 3.30pm Re-enactment of the Battle of Barnet, 1471 Over 350 re-enactors will be descending on Barnet for the weekend to set up their living history camps and to display the battle re-enactments and firepower displays. The rival commanders at the Battle of Barnet – Edward IV and the Earl of Warwick – will be recruiting supporters to their cause so now is the time to decide whether your loyalties lie with the Yorkist or the Lancastrian cause. New this year will be the chance to have a go at archery – for both children and adults (small charge applies). There will also be a medieval market with over 25 different traders, a range of community stalls and a variety of food and drink outlets. PLEASE note that there is very limited parking on site so please park in one of the town car-parks or walk if possible. For more information about how to get to the Festival site, please see the map and directions below. Go to our Gallery page to see photos of last year’s event.
